This is a story of a barbecue contest from the sweet start to the bitter end.
| For several years I cooked in FBA and KCBS contests as "The Boca Boys". Sometimes alone and sometimes with help. Every now and then we cooked good enough or got lucky with the right table of judges to get our name called and drive home with a trophy. Most of the time we just drove home with leftovers. But I thought I would try to tell folks what it's like cooking in competition so I've put together this story. Is it real or imaginary? That's up to you the reader to decide... |
 | Here I am actually winning something! This was a KCBS contest in Brooksville, Florida where our two man team got a perfect 180 in Ribs. We tied with another team but got bumped to second place by .02 of a point when they took in the sixth judge's score. We got second place in pork as well but DAL in chicken. This was actually the best we ever did in a contest. |
